Nicolas Diaz is a French IT security enthusiast. He studied linguistics until 1995 before becoming passionate about the internet and its wonders.

 

Nicolas turned to webmastering, completely self-taught. In 1999, within the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH), he was trained by a French Navy system and network engineer. He then worked for the FIDH.org NGO for more than 15 years. During that time, he trained human rights defenders and journalists from countries all over the world to improve the security of their communications.

Nicolas Diaz is a fervent promoter of open source and free software as an ally of human rights defenders, security and sustainability. He is working to increase the general human involvement in digital advocacy and governance.

Today, Nicolas Diaz is based in between France and the Sweden, and is an IT security Consultant for various NGOs. He was also a Community Manager for YesWeHack from 2016 to 2019. From 2020 to december 2022, he was in charge of communication & cyber Projects for an independent R&D company based in Brest : DIATEAM. Since 2023 he is the Head of Digital Strategy at Reporters without Borders.
